MT TONGARIRO CROSSING WALK AND FLYOVER

4WD FARM EXPEDITION

The land and the people tell a great New Zealand story on Ben Lomond Station. It’s a 13,500 hectare merino sheep station beautifully kept with grazing lands, native beech forest, lakes, rivers, mining huts and beautiful scenic vistas. Rich in gold history from the 1860s gold rush, it also provides a fabulous and authentic farming experience thanks to John and Ginny Foster. They have specialised in the farming and production of the finest merino wool for many years and give you a unique insight into the life of a kiwi icon. From Queenstown centre, a 10 km drive takes us to the picturesque Moke Lake. This marks the beginning of Ben Lomond Station and the private access only road. At the woolshed we will gear up for our 6 seater 4WD Yamaha Vikings and explore the station. With 6500 sheep on site and numerous stops and points of interest along the way there is plenty of time to soak up the stunning scenery and get close to the animals. We’ll find John Foster on the farm for some first hand NZ farming chat and explanation of the finer points of merino wool production and life on the farm. As a working farm demonstrations differ throughout the year with shearing, tailing, drenching, dogs working and lambing all part of the experience. Enjoy a gourmet lunch at Moonlight Lodge to keep us fuelled up for the adventures to come. Several options are available after lunch, embark on nature walks following the water races in beautiful old Beech Forest or the Sky- line Ridge walk, Try some lake fishing, gold mining, target shooting, tackle some farming or relax and enjoy the surroundings and a glass of wine or beer. Having been picked up you will drive to Christchurch and by the city’s centre. Here you can assess the progress of the rebuild following the 2010/2011 earthquakes. They will discuss the reasons for the event, its impact and the exciting plans for the future. BAGGAGE HANDLING

Domestic flights allow two bags per traveller with a maximum weight allowance of 23kg per bag for checked baggage (including golf clubs) and 7kg per person for hand luggage. Baggage and personal effects are taken at owner’s risk throughout the tour, and baggage insurance is strongly recommended. Please consult your international air carrier for its specific restrictions regarding weight limits and baggage allowance.

It is advisable that all participants take out comprehensive travel, medical, cancellation, curtailment and default insurance for the duration of the trip.
