4WD FARM EXPEDITION

LAKE MOKE

The land and the people tell a great New Zealand story on Ben Lomond Station – a 13,500 hectare merino sheep station, beautifully kept with grazing lands, native beech forest, lakes, rivers, mining huts and beautiful scenic vistas. Rich in gold history from the 1860s gold rush, it also provides a fabulously authentic farming experience, thanks to owners John and Ginny Foster, who have specialized in the farming and production of the finest merino wool for many years and give a unique insight into the life of a Kiwi icon.

A short helicopter flight will have you touching down at the picturesque Moke Lake. This marks the beginning of Ben Lomond Station, where we will gear up for our 6-seater 4WD Yamaha Vikings and explore the station. With 6,500 sheep on site and numerous stops and points of interest along the way, there is plenty of time to soak up the stunning scenery and get close to the animals. We’ll find John Foster on the farm for some first hand NZ farming chat and explanation of the finer points of merino wool production and life on the farm.

Enjoy a gourmet lunch at Moonlight Lodge to keep you fuelled up for the adventures to come. Several options are available after lunch; nature walks in the Beech Forest or the Skyline Ridge, lake fishing, gold mining, target shooting, or just relaxing and enjoying the surroundings with a glass of wine or beer. At the conclusion of the day, you will jump back into your buggys and head off into the sunset.
