Your unique journey, in the equally unique Tesla Model X vehicle, will start from the picturesque Bay of Islands in the 'tropical far north' of New Zealand, and end on the rugged west coast in the southern part of the North Island. In between, we have assembled a truly spectacular and wonderful journey that takes in the very best New Zealand has to offer in the way of scenery, food, wine and culture – along with luxury accommodation at a stunning selection of lodges and boutique hotels.

Just a 45-minute flight north of Auckland is the stunning Bay of Islands, one of NZ’s top tourist drawcards. With its unspoiled coastline, beautiful sandy beaches, turquoise waters and 144 untouched islands, this region enjoys a subtropical climate, and so you can expect warm weather year round. The Bay of Islands Maritime Park is one of New Zealand’s best loved destinations, offering world-class diving and snorkeling, with an array of wildlife including, dolphins, whales, penguins and gannets. It also has great sailing, kayaking and big-game fishing. Not only is the region blessed with stunning natural beauty, it has enormous historical significance, as the site of New Zealand’s first permanent British settlement and the birthplace of European colonization in the country.

Auckland is New Zealand’s biggest city and is frequently rated as one of the world’s top cities for quality of life and livability. Squeezed between two glistening harbors, Auckland’s narrow isthmus is home to one third of the country’s population – and for good reason. Known worldwide as the City of Sails, its center is a vibrant melting pot of style and culture, and its buzzing waterfront precincts are home to world-class dining and shopping experiences. A short helicopter or ferry ride from Auckland is Waiheke Island – the jewel of the Hauraki Gulf. On the island’s landward side, emerald waters lap at rocky bays, while its ocean flank is home to some of the region’s best sandy beaches. Blessed with a unique microclimate, Waiheke is home to around 30 boutique wineries, with many tasting rooms and top quality restaurants with breathtaking views. For the more adventurous, there is kayaking, and there are plenty of scenic walking and biking tracks, and activities, such as clay pigeon shooting, surfing and quad biking.

THE LANDING RESIDENCES

The Landing is located in a unique heritage and conservation property in the Bay of Islands, comprising a thousand acres of rolling hills, beaches, wildlife sanctuaries and historic sites. The Residences at The Landing are a group of privately owned houses, offering premium luxury and comfort in unparalleled surroundings, all tucked away in your own private bay. The houses range in size, and can sleep between four and 12 people.

DAY ONE

Upon arrival at Kerikeri Airport, your Tesla Model X will be waiting for you, along with an Eighth Wonder representative who will give you a detailed rundown of the vehicle before you depart for The Landing in the Bay of Islands.

Arrive at The Landing, and enjoy the afternoon at your own leisure. This first day concludes with an incredible evening dinner at your residence overlooking the sparkling water of the Bay of Islands.

DAY TWO

Your first full day will have you partaking in experiences on and off the water. The Landing's own vessel, Iti Rangi will transport you throughout the islands, including scenic visuals amongst the 144 islands spread across the Bay, a chance to see marine life including dolphins, and a visit to the quaint township of Russell for lunch at the historic Duke of Marlborough Hotel. You will also have the chance to fish off the boat with the help of your Captain. 

Dinner will be served at your residence by your private chef. 

 

DAY THREE

Today you will drive yourself in the Tesla Model X to Kauri Cliffs for 18 holes on this jaw-dropping championship course. Lunch will be served on the lawn overlooking the course, and the Pacific Ocean, including the Cavalli Islands. Following lunch, you will depart back to the Landing Residences and enjoy the afternoon at your leisure. 

Dinner will be served at your residence by your private chef.

DAY FOUR

Check out of the Landing and depart to the West Coast in your Tesla Model X. On arrival at the historic settlement of Omapere, near the entrance to the Hokianga Harbour,  you will be met by a cultural guide for a tour to Tane Mahuta, the world's largest known Kauri tree. The Maori mythology surrounding this majestic tree and the Waipoua forest will leave you spellbound. Afterwards, you will depart with the Waipoua Forest Trust Team to plant your very own Kauri tree as part of their rehabilitation programme. This is a unique experience, and is an opportunity to give back to the land you are visiting. Lunch will be a iconic New Zealand feast of Fish and Chips on the beach overlooking the Hokianga Harbour, before driving back south to Auckland.

Check into St Mary's Bay Residence in Auckland. Dinner will be reserved at a top rated Auckland restaurant.

DAY FIVE

Following breakfast, you will begin your day with a Sea Plane flight to Waiheke Island, courtesy of Auckland Sea Planes. A private tour of Waiheke Island, will be conducted by your personal Eighth Wonder guide. This tour will showcase the very best experiences on the island, including a breathtakingly beautiful horse trek that includes a stop-off at the world famous Te Matuku Bay Oyster Farm to enjoy the very best Oysters in the region, followed by a food-and-wine tasting and lunch at Tantalus Estate.

Arrive back at your accommodation, and once again have the choice of dining in-house, or alternatively, enjoy one of the great restaurants Auckland has to offer.

DAY SIX 

Depart in your Tesla Model X to the township of Matakana. The picturesque Matakana region is a foodie's heaven known for its weekend farmers market, boutique food shops and spectacular vineyards. Your first stop will be at the newly opened, Sculptureum. This place is a wonder of arts, food, wine and gardens. After lunch you may enjoy a swim at Omaha Beach and a craft beer at Sawmill Brewery in Leigh. Depart back to Auckland and enjoy dinner at a Eighth Wonder selected restaurant. 

DAY SEVEN

Following breakfast, you will take the Tesla Model X for one last time on a city tour of Auckland. Eighth Wonder will provide you with a morning itinerary and directions around town. Once you've seen the sights you will depart to Auckland Airport, where an Eighth Wonder representative will take the car off your hands.
